Serve > Advisory Board > Lunch Program > Lunch Program Volunteer Groups Lunch Program Volunteer Groups We welcome volunteer teams at the Church of the Redeemer’s Lunch Program. It’s a great way to engage in the community, better understand poverty and homelessness, and a fantastic team-building exercise. We’ve had teams from TD Bank, Rogers Communications, Shell Canada, RBC, Rotary and local high schools. Activities include:
Volunteer groups usually arrive at 8:30 AM and stay until the clean-up is done, typically 12:30 PM. These times are flexible. You’re also welcome to join us for lunch.
Teams are generally limited to five to six people. Larger groups can split into smaller teams. A program leader and regular volunteers will provide direction and instruction. We will greet your team and provide some context and an introduction to our program. Our Outreach Co-ordinator is available to hear feedback afterwards and discuss your group’s experience, answer questions and talk about poverty and homelessness. We can also provide space if you’d like to do your own meeting. We ask volunteer groups to consider underwriting the Lunch Program’s operational costs for a day to contribute further to this much-needed program. All donations are tax receiptable. A donation of $598 will cover food, coffee, nursing supplies, staff support and more for one day. For more information or to schedule a team learning experience, please contact Angie Hocking at 416-922-4948, ext. 215, or hockinga@theredeemer.ca. |
