Faith on Film 2011
Stephen Reynolds, our former Senior Associate Priest, was passionate about movies and every Lent for six years hosted a Faith on Film series. Although in failing health, Stephen selected the films he wanted to share with us in 2011. Sadly he died before he had the chance to do that. We wanted to finish what he started by presenting a special Faith on Film series in the fall of 2011. Our first four films were ones on Stephen’s 2011 list. The last night featured one of Stephen’s favourite films as we gathered to celebrate his life and ministry.

Kingdom of Heaven (2005) Starring Orlando Bloom, Jeremy Irons, Eva Green and Liam Neeson. Balian of Ibelin travels to Jerusalem during the crusades of the 12th century, and there he finds himself as the defender of the city and its people.

Get Low (2009) Starring Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, and Bill Murray. Felix Bush (Robert Duvall) is a hermit who has no regard for anybody in the town or anyone who wants to get to know him. But one day, after a fellow old hermit has died and he hears people in the town telling stories about him, he decides that he needs to get these stories out in the public.

Inherit the Wind (1960) Starring Frederic March, Spencer Tracy, and Gene Kelly. Inherit the Wind is a fictionalisation of the real-life trial of John T. Scopes in the hot summer of 1925. The trial pitted Darwin's evolutionary theories against the accepted text of religion.
